TRAFFIC VIEWER INSTRUCTIONS
-
This Traffic Viewer is provided under confidentiality,
do not forward login credentials to others.
-
Kindly ensure you are using one of our supported web-browsers:
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer (IE) 10+.
-
If using an iOS or Android device, please ensure the latest
software updates are installed.
-
Kindly clear your browser cache regularly (Ctrl + F5)
to ensure you are experiencing our latest updates.
-
Upon initial login, zooming or scrolling, traffic may take
several seconds to display depending on your network connection.
-
When FOLLOW mode is enabled, the map centers on your GPS location
(or New York City if no GPS is available). Turn your GPS location on and refresh.
-
Once displayed, traffic is automatically refreshed
approximately every minute.
-
Please zoom in to view the depth of our traffic
flow coverage since we suppress traffic flow on smaller streets when zoomed out. Zoom out
to see function class 1 and 2 roadways only. Zoom in to see function class 3, 4 and 5 roadways.
-
TRAFFIC+ flow is colored based on Congestion
or Level Of Service (LOS); NOT based on ReportedSpeed values:
Green = LOS 0-1 (At or near Freeflow)
Yellow = LOS 2 (Moderate congestion)
Red = LOS 3-4 (Heavy congestion)
Black = LOS 6 (Road Closed).
LOS is related to ReportedSpeed and "normal" speed for that road called FF Speed.
For example on a 65 mph road, Green=46+mph,
Yellow=27-45mph,
Red=0-26mph,
whereas on a 25 mph road, Green=13+mph,
Yellow=8-12mph,
Red=0-7mph.
To see the actual ReportedSpeed and speed limit, see text information that pops up
when you click/touch on any of the colored flow lines.
-
SXM, SIRIUS and NAV traffic services
flow coloring: Green=EvtCode124(Freeflow),
Yellow=EvtCode73-76(23-50mph),
Red=EvtCode70-72(0-22mph).
-
Incidents are displayed with a single icon, and a
dashed light-blue line displays the extent (start/end) of the
incident.
-
Footprints - the foot print feature allows a user to view
the coverage map for the service. Footprints are displayed in .
For SXM Traffic and Sirius Traffic free flow messages are not broadcast on many arterials to help reduce
processing requirements for older units in the field. With flow and footprint turned on, these arterials
will be displayed in for SXM Traffic and Sirius Traffic.
-
By using the TrafficViewer on your device with location sharing enabled, you are agreeing to provide
your anonymous location data to improve the service.
If you do not agree, please disable location sharing on your device as necessary.
-
If zoomed out too far to see certain content (e.g. incidents), a dashed red line around the
button indicates you need to zoom in further to see the information.
